Welcome
to the Mount Rainier Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.
We have been providing fire and
emergency medical services to the city of Mount Rainier, Prince
Georges County and the surrounding communities and counties,
including the District of Columbia since 1911. We have a long and
prestigious history. Many of our members have gone on to become
leaders in the Prince Georges County Volunteer Fire & Rescue
Association, the Prince Georges County Fire Commission, the Prince
Georges County Fire/EMS Department and many other career and
volunteer departments throughout the area.
The mission of the Mount Rainier
Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. is to protect the residents and
visitors of Prince Georges County and the surrounding jurisdictions
against the ravages of fire, provide pre-hospital care in cases of
medical emergencies and to protect against all other hazards, both
man made and natural disasters that threaten the public welfare.
We strive to be responsive to the
public needs in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
We do this by providing prompt,
professional Fire/EMS service with the most highly trained emergency
service personnel and the most advanced and well-equipped Fire/EMS
equipment available.
We are part of the Prince Georges
County Fire/EMS Department, which is a combination career/volunteer
department. The Prince Georges County Fire/EMS Department has over
650 career, full time firefighters and over 1000 volunteer
firefighter and EMS personnel that operate from over 40 fire
stations that are mostly owned by 37 individual volunteer
corporations.
